Chien-Hsiu Ong is an award-winning and experienced cellist and cello teacher based in Melbourne, Australia. Born in Taiwan, Chien-Hsiu studied at the Detmold Hochschule für Musik and the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Her primary teachers were cellists Christoph Rocholl, Marcio Caniero and Karine Georgian.

Chien-Hsiu was awarded Taiwanese Young Musician of the Year in 2003 and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Taiwan, Hong Kong, the UK, Germany and Australia. An experienced orchestral musician, Chien-Hsiu has worked with The Hallé and Opera North orchestras in the UK and Orchestra Victoria in Melbourne. Between 2006 and 2008, she was a member of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta.

Chien-Hsiu moved to Melbourne in late 2008 and in addition to her work as a freelance performer, has developed a reputation as an outstanding cello teacher. Chien-Hsiu tutors students of all ages and levels of accomplishment at her studio in Forest Hill, Melbourne.
